About the Artist
Nyla Welsh, 21, is a graduate of Circadium School of Contemporary Circus where she majored in handbalancing and Partner Acrobatics. She began her movement journey in ballet and tap at age 2. At age 5 she began Training at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet under the late Marcia Dale Weary. Training about 40 hours a week, Nyla performed lead roles in several works by George Balanchine and other notable choreographers. This gave her a great base for circus work.
At age 17, while attending University, she discovered and fell in love with circus. A year into her circus journey Nyla auditioned for Circadium and has been training and performing ever since! She has performed with Funicular Circus as an aerialist, and Give and Take Jugglers as an acrobat, at several venues around Pennsylvania. She has also performed in several circus festivals including the CIRCa Festival in Auch France, Philadelphia Cannonball Festival, and Philadelphia Hand to Hand festival.
While not standing on her hands (or someone else’s) Nyla loves spending time with friends, eating hotdogs and petting cats.
